FCA Area Rep

I am the representative for DesMoines and Henry Counties of Mississippi Valley FCA. After 36 years of teaching and coaching, I felt God’s call into the ministry of FCA.  I have been involved with FCA since 1977 as a huddle member, leader, coach, and now rep. I live in Burlington with my wife Kelly. Together we have 4 children and their spouses, and 4 grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Area Representative

I am the youngest of 6 children from Wheaton, Il., a suburb approximately 30 miles Southwest of Chicago.  Our family is very active in athletics, and I participated in football, basketball, and track most of my interscholastic competitive life. However, on any given weekend or off day, you could find the neighborhood kids at the diamond, park, pond, or pool competing in some sport.

I was blessed to be a part of our high school’s first state championship (Football ‘1979 class 4A). I went on to play college football at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.  Shortly after graduation, I met my wife, Kelly. We have been married for 34 years and have four amazing children, Jack (Emily) and their two daughters, Adleigh and Ellarose, Joe (Julia) and their two daughters Aubriella and Maggie, James (Nicole), and Keegan.

I was first exposed to the Gospel of Jesus through an older brother who attended an FCA camp. When I entered high school, my huddle coach (FCA hall of champions ‘04) Jim Rexilius challenged us to come and see what the Bible had to say about all our life issues.  It was at a huddle on Thursday night, January 13th, 1977, that I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. Since that time, I have been involved with FCA as either a huddle participant, huddle leader, or huddle coach. During my college years, I was able to join with other athletes to start a huddle at Luther College, in Decorah, Iowa.

During my time at Burlington High School, in Burlington, Iowa I felt God’s call to re-open a huddle that had been dormant for years.  Over time, I continued to feel God’s leading into full time ministry with coaches and athletes. In the spring of 2021, I decided to go all in and go full time with FCA as an area representative for Des Moines and Henry Counties. God has continued to be amazingly gracious in His blessings as the ministry in Southeast Iowa continues to grow with the vision to see the world impacted by Jesus Christ through coaches and athletes and mission to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
